What is the Earth Charter?
The Earth Charter is a document with sixteen principles powering a global movement toward a just, sustainable, and peaceful world. As a result of a decade-long global dialogue on shared values, which provide a new sense of interconnectedness between the well-being of people, the larger community of life, and future generations.
The Earth Charter is a “soft law” document that offers an ethical framework from an integrated vision of Earth, aiming to guide the globalizing world. Created by visionary leaders and launched in the year 2000, we invite today’s leaders to use the Earth Charter as a reference for decision-making and planning.
By integrating the Earth Charter into your personal life and applying its principles in your business, school, or community, you transform awareness into action for the flourishing of all life on Earth.
As an affiliate of the Earth Charter, Worldconnectors upholds the goals of further developing and promoting the Earth Charter within the Netherlands. Our goal is to serve as a wellspring of inspiration for sustainable actions undertaken by individuals, organizations, and institutions. The vision of Worldconnectors is therefore not only based on the UN Millennium Declaration but also on the Earth Charter. Herein, the Earth Charter serves as the ethical compass through which the world is viewed.
